President Vladimir Putin revoked on Tuesday a 2012 decree that in part underpinned Moldova’s sovereignty in resolving the future of the Transnistria region – a Moscow-backed separatist region which borders Ukraine and where Russia keeps troops, according to Reuter.
The decree, which included a Moldova component, outlined Russia’s foreign policy 11 years ago which assumed Moscow’s closer relations with the European Union and the United States.
The order revoking the 2012 document was published on the Kremlin’s website and states that the decision was taken to “ensure the national interests of Russia in connection with the profound changes taking place in international relations”.
It is part of a series of anti-Western moves announced by Putin on Tuesday. Alexandru Flenchea, Moldovan chairman of the joint control commission in the security zone around Transnistria, said the cancellation did not mean that Putin was abandoning the notion of Moldovan sovereignty.
In the same day, the new Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean told reporters that troops and weapons “illegally” present in Transnistria need to be evacuated to Russia as part of a “peaceful resolution” of the Ukraine conflict.
On the eve of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, roughly three-quarters of UN member states endorsed a resolution calling for “just and lasting” peace. China and India were among the major abstentions.
UN Resolution on Calling for Peace
members on Thursday voted in favor of a motion put forward by Germany calling for peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.
In all, 141 countries voiced support for the resolution. Seven opposed it — Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Mali, Eritrea, and Nicaragua. Another 32 countries abstained during the vote. China, India, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and much of Africa and Central Asia were among them.

As well as calling on parties to the conflict and the international community to seek to broker peace, the resolution also calls for Russia to withdraw from Ukraine’s territory. The document “reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, extending to its territorial waters.”
The resolution does not go into any details on how peace or peace negotiations might be achieved, short of saying through member states and international organizations “redoubling” their efforts.
China plan for Ceasefire
China called for a cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine in a 12-point proposal for ending the war that appeared to offer some reprieve to Moscow and little chance of winning broad support as the conflict enters its second year.
Several of the measures outlined by China in a position paper issued Friday would, if carried out, offer clear benefits to Russian President Vladimir Putin. That includes a cease-fire measure, which would freeze Russian troops in place on Ukrainian territory, as well as a call to immediately end all sanctions not endorsed by the U.N. Security Council, where Russia holds veto power.
ZELENSKY’s GASH AT CHRISTMAS TRUCE! Biden’s Neo-Nazi Rejects Putin and Kirill’s Gesture of Peace
Which is the answer of president Volodymyr Zelensky who already rejected the Christmas Truce? The opening a new front of War.
This is the devilish behavior of the Nato puppets who supports neoNazis and ISIS fighters and wants the massacre of his soldiers, as testified by a Ukrainian POW, and his population, as stated by an Irish MEP in the last days.
At a time when the Ukrainian Army is suffering serious losses and losing strategic positions in many areas of Donbass, the opening of a new war front is functional in extending the conflict in the bombing zones without any results in the military field.

A clear and dangerous provocation towards Russia to push it to use ever more powerful weapons and thus foment the blame of the mainstream media paid by Soros, the great financier of the 2014 coup in Kiev.
Ukraine poised to invade neighbor – Russian MOD
by Russia Today
Ukraine is gearing up to invade Moldova’s breakaway Transnistria region, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Thursday evening.
The MOD reported a “significant buildup of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment near the Ukrainian-Transnistrian border,” as well as the setting up of artillery positions and an “unprecedented” increase of drone flights over the region.
“The Russian Armed Forces will respond appropriately to the impending provocation by the Ukrainian side,” the ministry said.
The territory on the left bank of the Dniester River broke away from Moldova and declared itself an independent republic in the early 1990s. Its predominantly Russian-speaking population did not want to remain a minority in the country, which itself became independent during the breakup of the Soviet Union.
Around 1,100 Russian soldiers are stationed in Transnistria as peacekeepers, monitoring the 1992 ceasefire between Moldovan and local forces. It is estimated that half of Transnistria’s 500,000 residents now have Russian citizenship.
In a statement on Thursday, the Russian MOD said the potential attack from Ukraine “would be conducted in response to a supposed Russian offensive from the territory Transnistria.”
Valeriu Mija, Moldova’s secretary of state for defense, dismissed Russia’s claim as “an element of a psychological operation.” He added that the authorities are monitoring the situation on the ground.
EU Parliament Member Rebukes Zelensky for a War without Truce
The news comes amid tensions between Moscow and Chisinau. Moldovan President Maia Sandu accused Russia earlier this month of plotting to topple the government in her country. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that Russian peacekeepers should leave Transnistria.
Moscow denied the allegations of plotting a coup in Moldova and said it is not attempting to meddle in the country’s domestic affairs.
