«Ebrahim Raisi, the eighth president of Iran, has been martyred after a helicopter carrying him and his entourage crashed in Varzaqan region in East Azarbaijan Province, northwest of the country.  Raisi’s helicopter, along with two more copters, was en route to Tabriz City on Sunday after he inaugurated Qiz Qalasi Dam at the border with the Azerbaijan Republic earlier in the day».

Shortly after 5 am in Iran (4 CET) the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) confirmed the tragic rumors that had already leaked during the night.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, East Azarbaijan Province’s Governor Malek Rahmati, and Mehdi Mousavi, the head of Raisi’s guard team were on board the crashed aircraft as well. Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, the Supreme Leader’s representative in the province also accompanied them.

«Local officials present at the crash site have confirmed the martyrdom of Raisi and his accompanying team» IRNA adds.

Although the term martyrdom may lead one to believe that there is a suspicion that the helicopter crashed due to terrorist sabotage against the Iranian president and the Foreign Minister, both tenacious opponents of the genocide carried out in Gaza by the Israeli Zionist regime, this word must be read in the meaning it takes on in a religious theocracy.

The crash has killed President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, Governor of East Azarbaijan Malek Rahmati, and members of the president’s security team and the crew.

In this context, in fact, every state servant who falls in service is considered a “martyr” regardless of the causes of death. In the next few hours we will know if there are useful elements to support the theory of an attack.

Ebrahim Raisi, 63, was born in the holy city of Mashhad. He was elected president in 2021. Before that, he served as the judiciary chief, the general prosecutor and the vice-chairman of the Assembly of Experts. Raisi was also a member of the Expediency Council.

In September 2023, on the occasion of Government Week in Iran, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei praised the Raisi administration’s performance in various sectors including economy and foreign policy.

Journalist Reported unconfirmed Raisi’s death

Several hours into a massive search and rescue operation and things are not looking good as Iranian officials have been issuing ‘thoughts and prayers’ statements amid reports that severe fog and bad weather have prevented a proper aerial search for the downed helicopter of President Raisi and those with him.

Until a few hours earlier, Iranian state TV had stated that there was no news of any victims or injuries while an Israeli broadcaster, citing unspecified Western sources, had already said that Raisi had not survived.

Journalist Arash Azizi for The Atlantic reported Raisi’s death citing a source close to the Iranian presidency. He noted that authorities were looking for a way to break the news without causing unrest. Azizi said he wasn’t able to verify what the source had told him.

This latest information takes on considerable relevance because it was reported by RT (formerly Russia Today), the TV channel very close to the Moscow government which is one of Tehran’s main allies.

Also present on the aircraft transporting the president were Amir Abdullahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Imam of Tabriz Friday and Ayatollah Al-Hashem. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has called an emergency meeting of the Security Council.

Iran’s deputy president for executive affairs Mohsen Mansouri has said that two members of President Ebrahim Raisi’s entourage have contacted rescue teams, and this shows that the air incident involving their helicopter has not been rough, according to IRNA agency.

Mansouri said on Sunday that the helicopter of President Raisi and two more choppers were en route to the city of Tabriz after the president and his Azerbaijani counterpart inaugurated Qiz Qalasi Dam at the border between the two countries.

Half an hour into their flight, Raisi’s helicopter lost contact with the two other choppers, which prompted them to search the area, Mansouri said, adding that two members of the president’s entourage contacted rescue teams, which shows that the incident has not been hard.

The commander of the Revolutionary Guard in East Azerbaijan Province says they received signals from Iranian president’s helicopter and from the phone of one of the passengers.

Iranian media reports that Governor Rahmati, who was in the helicopter with the president, had managed to get in touch. He reportedly said that he was in a lot of pain and could hear the sound of sirens.

About an hour earlier, the Iranian Red Crescent Society is denying reports that Raisi’s helicopter had been discovered

Iran Military Forces Ordered to Mobilize to Search for President’s Helicopter

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri ordered the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, and the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran to employ all of their capacities and equipment in search of the president’s helicopter and for the rescue and relief operations.

«Rapid response and rescue teams of neighboring provinces are also called to help the search and rescue operation, Koulivand said few hours after the incident. A total of 40 teams are searching the area, the official said, while noting that inclement weather conditions and the impassability of the area is hampering the operation» Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.

He noted that the weather conditions make air searching impossible. He, however, added that drones have been sent to the area to help locate the crash site.

Humanity is with Raeisi’: People worldwide pray for Iranian president’s safety

«Immediately after news broke that a helicopter carrying Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi and some other officials suffered a hard landing in northwestern Iran’s East Azerbaijan province on Sunday, people took to various social media platforms to pray for their safety» Iranian PRESS Tv reported.

“Humanity is with Raeisi,” wrote Rev Laskaris, a US-based social media influencer, on X. “Pray for Iranian President Raisi,” tweeted Ehsan Safarenejad, an Iranian geopolitical analyst.

“Pray for Iranian President Raisi & Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian,” wrote Jackson Hinkle, a prominent US-based social media influencer and commentator.

“Today, after bidding a friendly farewell to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, we were profoundly troubled by the news of a helicopter carrying the top delegation crash-landing in Iran. Our prayers to Allah Almighty are with President Ebrahim Raisi and the accompanying delegation. As a neighbor, friend, and brotherly country, the Republic of Azerbaijan stands ready to offer any assistance needed,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on X.

Pilgrims visiting the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad has started a ceremony to pray for the health and safety of President Ebrahim Raisi after a helicopter carrying him and senior officials crashed in northwestern Iran.

Pilgrims congregated at Imam Reza’s holy shrine on Sunday on the eve of the eighth Shia Imam’s birthday anniversary.

«In the event of the death of Raisi, the person expected to replace him in office, at least temporarily, is First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber» RT explained.

US President Biden is rushing to the White House for an emergency meeting following Raisi’s helicopter incident, an administration official told Reuters.

Accident or Terrorist Sabotage?

Plane crash due to bad weather conditions or another terrorist attack through a sabotage?

This happened a few days after the attempt to kill Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, contrary to NATO logic on the relentless war in Ukraine, and almost a month after the massacre in Moscow in which the investigations revealed the fundamental role of Kiev’s secret services in collaboration with Western intelligence which for decades has used jihadist terrorists for bloody acts of international terrorism.

At the moment not even the Iranian media can explain why a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebraihm Raisi had to make an “emergency landing” due to adverse weather conditions while together with two other convoys it was traveling over the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan.

Due to the terrible weather conditions, rescue services have not yet reached the site of the disaster and it is not known if there are any victims…

The suspicion of sophisticated terrorist sabotage is also supported by the previous sensational case of the plane crash in which former UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold died.

Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi has confirmed that a helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi makes a hard landing in the city of Jolfa in the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan.

The helicopter was transporting President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azarbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, Friday Prayers leader of Tabriz city Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem and several other passengers when it encountered difficulties and was forced to make a “hard landing.”

The incident happened at Dizmar forest, between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa. One hour after the incident, rescue teams reached the area and started search operations.

President of the Red Crescent Society Pir Hossein Kolivand announced that forty emergency relief teams from six provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Ardabil, Zanjan, East Azarbaijan, and West Azerbaijan, have been deployed to the site of the incident and are currently searching the area.

Fifteen Red Crescent K-9 teams (sniffer dogs) along with two Red Crescent drones are also searching the area for any trace of the helicopter carrying the Iranian President, he said.

Due to the adverse weather conditions and severe fog in the area, the Red Crescent’s rescue helicopters are currently unable to fly, and the teams are conducting a ground search of the area, he added.

Iran’s Emergency Services spokesman said that eight ambulances were sent to the region as heavy fog has made air rescue efforts impossible.

Babak Yektaparast told IRNA news agency that emergency medical teams, including technicians and doctors, were dispatched to the site immediately after the incident was reported.

He added that an emergency helicopter was also deployed to provide assistance, but was forced to return as it was unable to land due to heavy fog.

Two other helicopters carrying a number of ministers and officials reached the destination safely. President Raeisiwas returning from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on the Aras River with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.
