From a moral perspective, the Meloni Government, which allows the Police to beat up Pro-Palestinian demonstrators to the point of receiving a formal censure for violation of human rights from Amnesty International but releases a dangerous Libyan torturer hit by an international arrest warrant, has already been censured by all honest journalists and commentators.
From a judicial perspective, Prime Minister Giorgia, an ally of real rogue states such as the Zionist regime of the genocidal Benjamin Netanyahu and the new Syria in the hands of a former ISIS cutthroat, considers a conspiracy of lèse-majesté the due act of receiving a notice of investigation from the magistrates against whom she has opened an unreserved war in an attempt to steer the Penal Code towards the total immunity of politicians as happened with the cancellation of abuse of office.
From a political perspective, in a drift of pompous nonsense that harks back to the times of the Duce from whom his party Fratelli d’Italia inherited the flame of the Movimento Sociale, he overflows with statements with allusions to mafia intrigues to delegitimize the plaintiff.
Prime Minister Meloni and two Ministers officially investigated
Here in short is the analysis of another shameful page in the history of Italy that risks becoming a banana peel on which the Meloni Government could slip. Let’s now look at the details of the story.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano have received a notice of investigation from the Rome Prosecutor’s Office regarding the case of Libyan Najeem Osema Almasri Habish.
Issued by international arrest warrant no. ICC-01/11-149-US-EXP issued on 18.1.2025 by the International Criminal Court for the crimes of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the prison of Mitiga (Libya) since 15.2.2011 punishable by a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Meloni publishes a video on her social media channels in which she shows the notice of investigation and retraces the story:
“Today’s news is this: the public prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, the same one of the failed trial of Matteo Salvini for kidnapping, has just sent me a notice of investigation for the crimes of aiding and abetting and embezzlement (committed by public officer) in relation to the affair of the repatriation of the citizen Almasri, notice of investigation also sent to the minister Carlo Nordio, Matteo Piantedosi and Alfredo Mantovano, I presume following a complaint that was filed by the lawyer Luigi Li Gotti, a former left-wing politician”
The International Criminal Court ignored by Justice Italian Minister
Let’s now look in detail at what the motivations for the two crimes reported by the lawyer Li Gotti could be in the absence of the complaint where they were exposed.
The aiding and abetting could be found in the fact that the International Criminal Court in The Hague was not informed by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio in relation to the arrest and was not even asked what to do.
This is clearly highlighted in the Order issued by the Court of Appeal of Rome which ordered the release of Almasri:
- «having seen the request for release received today from the lawyer Asa Peronace, in the interest of his client NAJEEM Osema Almasri Habish; having seen the note with which this Court, today, requested this Office to express its opinion on the aforementioned defense request, “. . concerning the precautionary position of the above-mentioned subject, in light of the special legislation that regulates the case and, in particular, the applicability to the above procedure of the provision of art. 716 of the Code of Criminal Procedure” and to also communicate “whether there is, in any case, a request for the application of a precautionary measure against the interested party, pursuant to art. 11 of Law 237/2017;
- requests that this Court declare the irregularity of the arrest as it was not preceded by discussions with the Minister of Justice, in charge of relations with the International Criminal Court; Minister concerned by this Office on 20 January last, immediately after receiving the documents from the Turin Police Headquarters, and who, to date, has not sent any request in this regard.
- As a result, the conditions for validation and, consequently, for a request aimed at the application of the precautionary measure are not met. The immediate release of the defendant follows».
It will not be easy for Minister Nordio to explain why he committed such a macroscopic carelessness…
The Repatriation to Libya on a State Flight
Just as it will not be easy for Meloni and Piantedosi to explain why the dangerous fugitive was repatriated to Libya on a State flight of the secret services, which can only be authorized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in its capacity as head of all intelligence through the Department of Security Information (DIS).
And since that trip was paid for with the money of all taxpayers, on this point the crime of embezzlement could have been hypothesized, that is, the misappropriation committed by a public official during the exercise of his functions.
Hence, the complaint of the lawyer Li Gotti, even if fueled by an impulse of political bias, appears to be at least minimally founded. Obviously, it will be up to the judiciary and the Court of Ministers first to evaluate whether the intent essential for the configuration of these crimes can be identified.
