Around 20:30 (Italian time GMT + 2) Spanish operator, the company Red Electrica, announced that power had been restored in “many areas” of northern, southern and western Spain. The outage stopped the subways of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, disrupted traffic lights and also left Barajas airport without electricity.

According to other media, the phrase “induced atmospheric vibration” does not have a precise reference in scientific literature. At most, we can find references to “wind-induced vibrations”, i.e. the vibrations to which buildings are subjected when they are hit by gusts of wind.
Blackout in Spain, supermarkets stormed in Madrid
One of the effects of the blackout that left much of Spain and Portugal without electricity on Monday, April 28, was the storming of supermarkets. Madrileños flocked to the stores to buy canned goods, water, toilet paper and other non-perishable goods to face “any eventuality”.
Spain declares state of emergency after major blackout
Spain’s interior ministry has declared a state of emergency following a major nationwide blackout, Reuters reported. According to the ministry, the state of emergency will be applied in those regions that will require it. By now, Madrid, Andalusia and Extremadura have requested government assistance, the agency added.

EU Cyber Agency: “Initial investigations show fault, not attack”
The Instituto Nacional de Ciberseguridad, the national institute for cyber security, is assessing the situation and had not ruled out a cyber attack, something also taken into consideration by the Portuguese Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, who, speaking to RTP, the Portuguese state TV, said: “There is this possibility, but it has not been confirmed”.
Now, according to the European Union Agency for Cyber Security (ENISA), initial investigations into the cause of the outages suggest a technical fault rather than a cyber attack:
“For the moment the investigation seems to highlight a technical or cable problem,” a spokesperson for the agency said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg. “However – he added – ENISA is closely monitoring the situation and we are in contact with the competent authorities at national and EU level”
