ITALIAN SUPERVOLCANO: NIGHTMARE of EXPLOSION after LATEST EARTHQUAKE! Disturbing VIDEO Simulation of a Plinian Eruption. Alert Even by Nature Geoscience

by Fabio Giuseppe Carlo Carisio
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was felt in Naples (Campania, southern Italy) and in the Campi Flegrei (from the Latin “flaming fields”) area at 12:47 yesterday, Monday 30 June, from the eastern area of Naples, such as Via Argine, to Giugliano, Colli Aminei and obviously the neighborhoods closest to the Campi Flegrei area, such as Fuorigrotta and Bagnoli.
The magnitude 4.6 shock at 12:47 is the strongest, together with the one in March 2025, ever recorded by detectors. A subsequent magnitude 2.2 earthquake was recorded by the operations room of the Vesuvian Observatory of the INGV in the Campi Flegrei area, at 12:51 at a depth of 4 km.
Due to the earthquake, a ridge collapsed in Bacoli, near the islet of Pennata. There are no people involved also because, being Monday, the turnout is much lower than on the weekend.
So far the news of the last day of fear now become terror for the inhabitants of the area also because, despite the repeated alarm signals launched by one of the largest supercauldrons in the world, the Italian Government and the Civil Protection apparatus are limited to preparing occasional emergency evacuation plans but are absolutely not evaluating the transfer of the population from the areas most at risk, thus legitimizing their courageous and reckless challenge to the volcano.
The Fear of the Inhabitants in the daily challenge to Earthquakes
Some people take coexistence with seismic phenomena philosophically, but the 4.6 magnitude shock at 12.47 with epicenter in the Aragonese castle of Baia, in Bacoli, was truly scary.
“It was strong and lasted longer than usual – a local resident told Ansa – the lamps were swinging, we heard the walls creaking. Some people ran out into the street. It had been a while since the earthquake was felt, today it made itself felt again. We have to get used to it, there was a lot of fear but here nobody gives up”.
Last May 14, the Vesuvius Observatory of the INGV had detected a long seismic swarm in the Campi Flegrei area. 30 earthquakes with magnitudes between 0 and 3.1 had been recorded. Four seismic events with magnitudes greater than 1.
It is disconcerting that even the experts interviewed by Italian National TV RAI News tend to exclude the imminent disaster that could be caused by a sudden and cyclopean volcanic eruption.
In fact, there is an international study published in Nature Geoscience, to which only Gospa News has given the right prominence, which highlights all the signs not only of a serious acceleration of the rise of the ground after the bradyseism typical of the caldera, or its lowering (technical details below), but also of the disturbing increase in gaseous emissions.
The INGVVulcani Video on the Simulation of the Plinian Eruption
It is even more disconcerting that the alarm of a possible Plinian eruption (from the type of caldera) was documented by a video simulation published in 2011 by INGVVulcani, the official information page on the volcanic activity of the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.
The Plinian eruption takes its name from Pliny the Younger, who first described the phenomenon. It is a type of eruption that occurs from explosive volcanoes, characterized by the emission of very viscous lava that does not flow from the crater, preventing the gases from being released; this causes the increase in internal pressure that leads to the partial or, in the most disastrous cases, total explosion of the volcano.
The video is a «three-dimensional numerical simulation of the collapse phase of a Plinian column at Campi Flegrei. The simulated event has a scale similar to the Agnano Monte Spina eruption (about 4,500 years ago), one of the largest of the last 15,000 years» can be read under the video that has recorded 394 thousand views on YouTube.
«The eruptive vent is hypothesized at the center of the Agnano basin. The conditions of the eruptive mixture assumed at the vent are based on the reconstruction of the Agnano Monte Spina eruption and the hypothesized mass flow is of the order of 1.E8 kg/s. The isosurfaces shown in the video represent the temperature of the pyroclastic mixture at 100°C (outside, pink) and 350°C (inside, red to yellow). The topography is represented by a digital terrain model (DEM) with a resolution of 10 m on which aerial orthophotos have been superimposed».
«The animation shows the evolution of the gas temperature through two isosurfaces that collect the points where the temperature reaches 100°C (external isosurface, semi-transparent) and those at 350°C (internal isosurface, in red and yellow)».
Campi Flegrei: Pressure sources responsible for ground uplift and earthquakes identified
«After the phase of ground subsidence following the bradyseismic crisis of 1982-1984, starting in 2005 the Campi Flegrei caldera has resumed a slow but constant uplift, which today has reached 140 cm (compared to 2005) in the Rione Terra area. At the same time, since 2018 a progressive increase has been observed in both the frequency and energy of volcano-tectonic earthquakes, with a clear acceleration starting in 2023».
Expert volcanologists Domenico Patanè, Graziella Barberi and Claudio Martino write on the INGVVulcani page in an article published on April 25, 2025, after the tremendous earthquake in March, similar to yesterday’s.

«This seismic intensification accompanies and, in part, reflects the dynamics of ground uplift. Most earthquakes are concentrated at depths of less than 3 km, especially under the Solfatara-Pisciarelli area and in the area north of Pozzuoli. In the open sea, however, earthquakes are deeper. Overall, the distribution of epicenters follows an elliptical pattern that follows the extended shape of the caldera (Figure 2)».
The Study on Eruption Risk Published by Nature GeoScience
«The volcanological literature on the current phase of bradyseism offers different and sometimes conflicting interpretations: some studies attribute the ongoing activity to superficial intrusions of magma, while others mainly link it to disturbances of the hydrothermal system, induced by the injection of magmatic gases coming from greater depths (approx. 8 km)» conclude the scientists, then dwelling on very technical considerations (link between sources).
The reference to magmatic movements, detected by the increase in sulfur emissions, is precisely the one reported in the Nature Geoscience article also signed by Mauro Di Vito, director of the Vesuvian Observatory of the INGV.
But the reactions of politicians have been aimed at minimizing the risk of imminent disastrous events in order to avoid having to face an immediate “exodus plan” of the area with astronomical costs for the Meloni Government.
Italian Minister Touches Iron: “I never thought of evacuating 500 thousand people”
The reaction of the Minister of Civil Protection Nello Musumeci was emblematic, who invited people to “touch iron” in March, while the Bishop of Pozzuoli, Monsignor Carlo Villano, invited the population to pray:
“As believers in Christ, we feel we can ask the Lord to support us in this time of trial where everything seems to be precarious,” said the prelate after the strong earthquake in March.
“I never said we should leave the Campi Flegrei area: moving 500 thousand people to other parts of Campania or the country seems to me to be an extreme measure that would not be justified at the moment. However, I believe that there are some parts of the caldera that are particularly vulnerable, so it would be useful to suggest freeing that area.”
This was stated by the Minister of Civil Protection Nello Musumeci in an interview with SkyTg24, commenting on yesterday’s earthquake in the Campi Flegrei. The Bishop of Pozzuoli did very well to invite believers to pray so that another disaster does not occur, as announced by the Vajont Dam…
