General Alexeyev regains consciousness post-surgery after attempt on life
Today Alexeyev is conscious, and doctors cautiously state that there is no threat to his life, medical sources told TASS.

The assassination attempt against the Russian Defense Ministry’s Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev has shown that the regime of Vladimir Zelensky seeks to derail peace talks, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference.
“This terrorist act once again confirmed the Zelensky regime’s commitment to constant provocations aimed at disrupting the negotiating process, and its readiness to do everything possible to persuade its Western sponsors not to lag behind the United States in efforts to throw them off course toward achieving a fair settlement,” Lavrov noted.
At the same time, Lavrov declined to speculate on how the incident might affect future negotiations. “That is not my function, that will be decided by the leadership of our country,” he said.
The assassination attempt against Alexeyev took place on February 6, when an unidentified gunman fired several shots at the general in a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway and fled the scene. The general was taken to the hospital with injuries. The Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation on charges of attempted murder and illicit trafficking in firearms.
Russian general shot in suspected assassination attempt
Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, first deputy chief of Russia’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), was shot several times in the back outside his residence in the western part of the capital, the statement said. It added that Alekseev has been taken to the hospital but did not offer further details on his condition.
Alekseev is in Moscow hospital and placed in intensive care. He suffered several gunshot wounds to the stomach, leg & arm. According to preliminary reports, vital organs were hit.
Officials stated that the shooter had fled the scene and is being sought by police. Investigators and forensic teams are working at the scene.
While Russian officials have not identified those responsible, Ukrainian intelligence has previously branded Alekseev an “international criminal.” Kiev has also been linked to past assassination plots targeting Russian officials and military commanders.
Alekseev, 64, is one of Russia’s most senior military intelligence officials, having served as first deputy head of the GRU since 2011 – a role in which he oversaw anti-terrorist operations in Syria. In 2017, he was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation, one of the country’s highest distinctions.
