Britain scrambles to send warship to Cyprus after France deploys aircraft carrier
Britain is scrambling to send a warship to Cyprus after France announced a major deployment to the eastern Mediterranean.
The Royal Navy is expected to send a Type 45 destroyer, either HMS Dragon or HMS Duncan, to the region after an RAF base was attacked by Iranian drones on Monday night.
France’s nuclear-powered Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier and its strike group are heading to the area. Emmanuel Macron, the French president, has also ordered anti-drone weapons and a frigate to the eastern Mediterranean.
There is growing international concern that Sir Keir Starmer has been too slow and too resistant to take action.
Two drones heading towards UK base in Cyprus intercepted: Spokesperson
Two drones heading towards the UK’s Akrotiri base in Cyprus have been “successfully intercepted”, Cyprus government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis says on X. Earlier, we reported that sirens had gone off at the base in Cyprus shortly after midday, according to the country’s state media.
British RAF base in Akrotiri evacuated by civilians after an attack
The British base in Cyprus has been partially evacuated, France Presse reports. Around 70 cars were seen leaving the Akrotiri base, but most of them belonged to civilians working there. Greece is sending two frigates and two fighter jets to Cyprus following Iranian drone attacks on a British base on the island.
Cyprus, government source: the drones that struck the island came from Lebanon
The Iranian-made drones that targeted a British military base in Cyprus were sent from neighboring Lebanon, likely by Hezbollah, a Cypriot government source told AFP.
It has been confirmed that the drones, one of which hit an airstrip, came from Lebanon, according to the same source. When asked if they were launched by the Iranian-backed armed group, he replied “very likely.”

Trump slams UK for delayed permission to use Diego Garcia base for Iran attacks
US President Donald Trump says it took “far too much time” for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to change his mind after initially refusing to allow the use of the UK-US Diego Garcia base to target Iran.
Starmer announced late on Sunday that US forces would be allowed to operate from British bases against Iran, but only in a limited role targeting missile sites. Trump highlighted the issues around Diego Garcia, in the Chagos Islands, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Every world conflict has begun with regional wars that have spread due to the business and geopolitical interests of criminal dynasties like the Rothschilds, instigators of all the Masonic Revolutions of the 19th century to destroy the Catholic and Orthodox Christian monarchies (preserving the Anglican monarchy, which has supported the London Great Lodge since its founding in 1717), and the Rockefellers, who financed Nazi Führer Adolf Hitler to stunt European industrial growth and enslave it to the American Marshall Plan for decades.
But also to legitimize, with the Holocaust, the birth of the Zionist State of Israel in Palestine…
This is why, as of tonight, Europe is already at war! And its currently passive involvement heralds a widening of the Middle Eastern conflict between Iran, the US, and Israel.
The United Kingdom’s entry into war against Iran
The decisive factor was Prime Minister Starmer’s decision by the United Kingdom to support the Western Zionists in their ultimate missile challenge to the Shiite Islamic Republic, an enemy of NATO’s artfully constructed jihads, financing, arming, and training jihadist mercenaries from Al Qaeda and ISIS, culminating in the Arab Spring and the triumph of a terrorist in Syria.
This decision would have likely led to Iran’s first retaliation, an attack on a British Royal Air Force (RAF) base in Cyprus, a member of the European Union since 2004, even though the base is in a small administrative area of the United Kingdom (see map below).
The conditional is necessary because the attack was documented on video and confirmed by multiple news sources, but Tehran has not yet officially assumed responsibility, having occurred around 22:00 GMT on Sunday, March 1st.
This occurred just as London has already signaled two steps of no return in the war in Ukraine against Russia:
- the dispatch of British troops under the guise of a peacekeeping force
- and the probable supply of nuclear missiles to the neo-Nazi Ukrainian president in Kiev, Volodymyr Zelensky.
We have already written about this in recent days.
Let’s see now, thanks to the videos released by News-Pravda and promptly reported on Gospa News International, and thanks to a release by the Russian news agency TASS, what happened.
The Latest Iranian Attacks on US Bases in the Middle East
As reported on Gospa News International shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles are destroying what remains of US bases in the Middle East.
They have hit 27 of them, and three US soldiers have already been killed, as confirmed by the US Pentagon (specifically, the Central Command Europe CENTCOM), but there are as many as 200 according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is seeking to avenge the killing of supreme religious leader Ali Khamensi in the most violent way possible (and for this reason, it bombed the building housing the CIA in Dubai).
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the achievements of the latest waves of its Operation True Promise 4 in retaliation to the Israeli regime’s and the US’s unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic, according to Iranian PRESS TV
In a statement on Sunday, the Corps noted that the “seventh and eighth waves” the reprisal featured successive missile launches and large-scale drone deployments against American and Zionist targets.
They resulted in missile strikes on three US and British oil tankers (read here on Hormuz issues), the shutdown of key American naval facilities in Kuwait, heavy damage to a US base in Bahrain, and hundreds of American military casualties, it noted.

- 1st footage – The effective hit of the Iranian “Shahed” at the US military base in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan. A big fire broke out. Note that the detonation in these videos is typical for solid-fuel air defense missiles.
- 2nd footage – Reports of a huge missile strike on American airbase in Qatar
- 3rd footage – Explosions in the area of a British Air Force base in Cyprus. In the area of the Akrotiri airbase (near Limassol), the siren is wailing, and the air force has been alerted.
This news initially seemed extremely serious to us, precisely because of the spread of the Middle Eastern conflict into the Mediterranean Sea and into a European Union country, even though it is a colony of half-British and half-Israeli, with the exception of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
We explained it well in our exclusive investigation into the alleged training on the island of Israeli settlers survivors from the October 7, 2023, attacks, conducted by the Israeli counterintelligence service Mossad.
But the news was fully confirmed by the Russian news agency TASS.
Explosion at the British air base in Akrotiri, Cyprus
An explosion has occurred at the British military air base Akrotiri, located on the island of Cyprus, the In-Cyprus news portal reported, according to TASS.
It is a post of the RAF, the Royal Air Force, that is, the United Kingdom’s air force.
«The United Kingdom’s Akrotiri air force base in Cyprus has been hit by a drone, the Cyprus Mail learned in the early hours of Monday morning» quoted the outlet source.
The publication informed that a “small drone” had “impacted the airfield” of the base, prompting the command of this military facility to take necessary security measures.
There were no fatalities or injuries as a result of this strike, but the air base suffered “minor damage.”
The statement also said that the base command instructed personnel to “remain in place and await further instruction,” warning that “there may be additional impact,” and noting that the roar of the explosion and the sound of sirens were heard in the Cypriot city of Limassol, located adjacent to the base.
Citing unconfirmed reports, the newspaper noted that the British air base may have been struck by a Shahed 136 drone, Iranian-made.
At the moment, the drone that caused a dazzling explosion visible as a gigantic flash lasting a few hundredths of a second remains unidentified because Iranian militias have not yet claimed responsibility for last night’s attack.
The portal informed, citing the Israeli Channel 14, that a powerful explosion was heard in the area of the Akrotiri base, after which sirens sounded and aircraft began taking off from the base’s airfield.
In-Cyprus recalled that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated in a video address published on social media X that Great Britain had approved a US request to use its military bases for strikes on missile depots in Iran.
Earlier, the Cyprus Mail reported, citing sources, that a “security threat” has been declared at the British military air bases in the Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia.
The alert was disseminated shortly before midnight local time [10 p.m. GMT]. Personnel were instructed to “return to your homes and stay inside until further notice,” and those on base were advised to “move away from windows and take cover behind or beneath substantial, solid furniture” and await further instructions.
Later, the UK’s government announced that British armed forces were “responding to a suspected drone strike” at the Akrotiri base.
“Our force protection in the region is at the highest level and the base has responded to defend our people. This is a live situation and further information will be provided in due course,” it said, according to Cyprus Mail.
