Filipino Catholic leader urges Americans to stop Trump’s war
Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David says Americans have the power to stop “what must not be unleashed” as he warned against an escalation of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
In an open letter published on Facebook, David said the responsibility for Trump’s repeated threats of a wider war against Iran does not rest on just one man.
“A leader does not act alone. A leader is chosen, carried, and enabled,” he wrote.
“When power is used without restraint, when war is chosen without listening, when destruction is justified as strength – that is not leadership. That is moral failure”.

Also a growing number of US political figures have sharply criticized US President Donald Trump following his expletive-laden threats against Iran, in which he called for escalating attacks on critical infrastructure and demanded the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Former US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally of Trump, issued one of the most forceful criticisms.
She wrote on X, “I know all of you and him, and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit… This is not making America great again, this is evil”.
Greene stressed that the war was initiated by the US and “Israel”, arguing that it is based on longstanding claims regarding Iran. She added that Washington is forcing Americans to pay the price of a war that results in civilian casualties and destruction.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer described Trump’s statements as those of “an unhinged madman,” warning that such rhetoric alienates allies and undermines US credibility.

Schumer delivered a scathing critique of President Donald Trump’s recent presidential address on the US-Israeli war on Iran, describing it as “rambling, disjointed, and pathetic.”
In a post on X, the Democratic Minority Leader argued that Trump’s approach to the crisis represents “one of the greatest policy blunders in the history of our country.”
Senator Bernie Sanders also condemned the remarks, calling them “dangerous and mentally unbalanced.”
“One month after starting the war in Iran… these are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. Congress has got to act NOW. End this war,” Sanders said.
Calls to remove Trump or curb his powers
Senator Chris Murphy warned that Trump’s behavior raises serious constitutional concerns, suggesting the possibility of invoking the 25th Amendment.
“If I were in Trump’s Cabinet, I would spend Easter calling constitutional lawyers… This is completely, utterly unhinged,” he wrote, adding that the president’s decisions risk further mass casualties.
US Representative Melanie Stansbury added a blunt assessment, stating: “The emperor has no clothes. Time for the #25thAmendment. Congress and the Cabinet must act.”
