Moreno reported that emergency services have been trying to contact missing people since 6 a.m., residents of isolated areas within the perimeter of the widespread fire in the Los Gallardos area.

The deaths occurred in the village of Bedar, according to a statement, specifying that some of the victims were found inside vehicles.
The head of regional emergency services, Antonio Sanz, called the accident “an unprecedented tragedy” and added in the statement that “the pain is immense.”
About 150 firefighters, supported by five fire engines, are battling the flames, which are also being fueled by high temperatures. T
he fire has injured at least six people, including a woman who suffered burns and another person who suffered smoke inhalation; both were taken to the hospital.
“Four other people were treated on site for respiratory problems and minor burns,” Andalusian regional authorities stated. Eyewitnesses told authorities that the fire may have started following a fallen power line, which ignited dry vegetation before rapidly spreading into the surrounding forest. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.
