Russian FSB Director claimed that Ukraine has become a “testing ground” for Western and NATO weapons
Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov claimed that Ukraine has become a “testing ground” for advanced Western and NATO weapons systems, artificial intelligence warfare, and new military tactics during a security summit in Irkutsk soem weeks ago.
Speaking at the meeting of the CIS Security and Special Services Heads Council, Bortnikov accused Western countries of using Ukraine as a platform for developing modern warfare technologies and conducting operations against Russia.
The FSB chief also discussed tensions in the Middle East, Afghanistan, cyber threats, terrorism, NATO activities, and alleged foreign intelligence operations across the CIS region.
The remarks come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions between Russia, NATO countries, and Ukraine as the conflict continues to reshape global security dynamics.

It’s an incredible opportunity to see what the modern battlefield looks like today, what it might look like tomorrow, and what we might need in the future,” he said.
NATO allies across Europe are raising defense budgets to meet a new, higher spending pledge. Much of what they buy will go to Ukraine, and much of what they spend will flow to the United States through a recent initiative dubbed the NATO Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, or PURL. And then I, as [Supreme Allied Commander], will elevate the requirement and send it back to them at the working group,” he said. “Some things are only going to come from the U.S. factory,” such as PAC-3 missiles.

Confirmation of the use of the war in Ukraine as a testing ground for new, increasingly sophisticated weapons also comes from a terrorist attack foiled in recent days by Russia.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was preparing a large-scale terrorist attack on a military airfield in Rostov-on-Don using FPV drones with artificial intelligence.
