UPDATE – Russia WIPES Ukrainian Defense Plant using IBCM Oreshnik Missile (video). Putin: “No Way to STOP IT”
by Fabio Giuseppe Carlo Carisio
As we stare into the future of the war in Ukraine, we now have daily escalations from both sides, each scarier than the next. On Thursday, Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with multiple non-nuclear re-entry warheads on the city of Dnepropetrovsk, in Ukraine.
This comes after Joe Biden approved the use of long-range US-made missiles to be fired by Ukraine into Russia – which they did earlier this week.
This strike marks the first time that an ICBM has been used in the history of human conflict.
There are currently no countermeasures for the Oreshnik missile, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. Speaking in a televised address, the head of state assured that Russia will issue notifications before using this type of missile.
In response to the West’s decision to authorize strategic-depth strikes on Russia, Moscow used its new Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile for the first time.
The missile was fitted with a conventional warhead, but is designed to carry a nuclear charge as well.
Watch: ICBM strike in Yuzhmash defense plant.
“The dramatic video shows flashes lighting up the sky – believed to be six separate warheads of a R-26 Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile type.”
It is believed that six RS-26 missile strikes completely destroyed the Yuzhmash defense plant, where the damaged American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and German Leopard tanks were being repaired.
The West’s confrontational policies may invoke harsh consequences if the conflict continues to escalate further, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his speech.

A Show of Force Against NATO
The use of a medium-range intercontinental missile in neighboring Ukraine, when three Kinzhal hypersonic missiles would have been enough to achieve the same effect, is obviously just a multiple demonstration of strength by Putin’s Russia.
It is in fact the “live text” of a new hypersonic intercontinental medium-range missile (2-5 thousand km instead of the more than 5 thousand of the classic ICBMs or the 11 thousand of the Sarmat) that could hit the NATO headquarters in Brussels in 15 minutes without being intercepted due to its hypersonic speed and that could carry at least 6 different nuclear warheads capable of creating a devastating and simultaneous impact also on London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Prague, Warsaw…
Putin: “Notification to Enemy because there are no countermeasures for this weapon”
Russia did not send advance notifications to the United States or other countries about the use of the Oreshnik hypersonic missile on a Ukrainian military-industrial facility as there are no such obligations,
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS.
“No, there have been no notifications, for Russia has no such obligation with regard to intermediate-range missiles,” the spokesman emphasized.
Anyway, speaking later in a televised address, the head of state assured that Russia will issue notifications before using this type of missile.
“We will do it due to humanitarian concerns – openly, publicly, without any concerns about any countermeasures from the enemy, who will also receive this information,” Putin said.
“Why without any concerns? Because there are currently no countermeasures for this weapon at this moment.”
Below is a summary of the Russian leader’s remarks as reported by TASS Russian News Agency.
West’s strike repelled by Russian Air Defenses
– Earlier this week, military sites in Russia’s borderline Kursk and Bryansk regions were attacked by US- and UK-made missiles.
– “Our air defenses successfully repelled these attacks. As a result, the adversary failed to achieve its apparent goals.”
Washington and its NATO allies went the way of escalation by deciding to authorize the use of long-range weapons for strategic-depth strikes on Russia:
“Experts are well aware – and the Russian side has repeatedly underscored this – that it is impossible to use these weapons without direct participation of military specialists from the countries that produce them.”
Technical Characteristics of the New Impossible to Intercept Missile
Having repelled Ukraine’s attacks with US-and UK-made missiles, Russia retaliated by delivering a strike on a defense production site in Ukraine.
Russia struck Yuzhmash, a Ukrainian aerospace plant, with a nuclear-capable hypersonic ballistic missile, only carrying a conventional warhead this time. The missile was codenamed Oreshnik by its designers, which can roughly be translated as ‘hazel bush.’
“There is no way to counter the missile at this point.”
Oreshnik attacks targets at a speed of Mach 10, or 2.5-3 kilometers per second. “Modern air defense systems and missile defense systems deployed by the Americans in Europe cannot intercept such missiles. It is impossible.”
“We tested the Oreshnik missile in combat conditions in response to the aggressive actions of NATO regarding Russia.”
The RS-26 Rubezh, of which Oreshnik is the latest technological evolution, reportedly has a starting weight of about 40-50 tons and is capable of delivering 4 separate combat units at a distance of 2,000 to 6,000 kilometers. It is three times larger and much more powerful than the Iskander mobile short-range ballistic missile system.
It was built by Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering as part of the Avangard program. It has an advanced protection against the missile defense system and reportedly four individual thermonuclear warheads with a capacity of 150-300 kilotons each. No foreign air defense system is technically able to intercept it.
The exact number of missiles of this type in service with the Russian military is classified. According to open sources, the Russian Federation possesses at least 200 RS-26 Rubezh and PC-24 Yars missiles (read below), which is more than enough to deal series of devastating blows on its enemies.
Sarmat, longest-range and heaviest missile in the Russian nuclear arsenal.
Russia also has RS-26 Rubez intercontinental missiles. According to the US-based Arms Control Association, they have a range of up to 5,800 km and can carry an 800 kg nuclear warhead. From the Astrakhan region, where the raid on Dnipro was launched, a missile of this type would have taken less than 10 minutes to reach its target, about 700 kilometers away.
But the most powerful weapon that became operational in September 2023 in Moscow’s Aerospace Forces is the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.
The weapon is believed to be the longest-range and heaviest missile in the Russian nuclear arsenal.
The liquid-fueled silo-based delivery vehicle, final stage testing of which was completed last year, is the intended replacement for the aging R-36M2 Voevoda missiles. Its range is estimated at at least 11,000 miles (about 18,000km), with a payload weighing around 10 tons.
The Zyrcon Missile on frigate Admiral Gorshkov
Another very powerful missile with a shorter range is the Zyrcon, which can carry a nuclear warhead and is intended for the frigates of the Russian fleet.
For now it is supplied to the frigate Admiral Gorshkov which has already successfully tested it last June also in exercises conducted together with some submarines in the Caribbean Sea, a short distance from Cuba and the coast of Florida, in an act of psychological deterrence by Moscow towards Washington precisely because of the escalation of the war in Ukraine.
In those drills was engaged also the nuclear submarine Kazan with Kalibr cruise missiles and Oniks anti-ship missiles.
All Russian Powerful, Dangerous Weapons that are Known or… Secret
Below the previous investigations on many different, powerful and very dangerous weapons in the Russian arsenal as the mysterious successor of the Russian mobile nuclear intercontinental missile RS-24 Yars tested in the Astrakhan Region in the latest months, the FAB-3000 bombs which was used to wiped an Ukranian settlement in Donbass or the Zadira Laser already tested during conflict against Kiev Army.
Putin has such a powerful arsenal that if World War III or the First Atomic War breaks out, he will be able to destroy half of the West without the help of his allies China, Iran and North Korea.
This is why the Russian president has continuously condemned the Biden-Harris administration’s crazy policies in Ukraine and the Middle East: because they really can lead to nuclear catastrophe, especially in Europe.
But for NATO the interests of the Weapons Lobby seem to be more important than the safety of American and European citizens…
