A few days ago, former US Navy intelligence officer Scott Ritter, known for his attempts at dialogue with Russia for a just peace in Ukraine that cost him arrest by the FBI, anticipated that Russia is ready to use Nuclear Missiles (link to video below in the sources) in response to the announcement of the exclamation of armaments made by the White House.
The new American president Donald Trump, who to date has not yet made contact with the Kremlin for a phone call or a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, has not only confirmed the sending of further military aid to Ukraine but also the adoption of the Israeli Iron Dome system for the protection of the USA.

US President Donald Trump’s support for weapons programs detrimental to stability will not foster a dialogue on strategic offensive arms, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has told a news briefing.
She drew attention to US President Donald Trump’s recent “Iron Dome for America” executive order, which implies “a sharp intensification of the national missile defense project and its expansion to a scale comparable to Star Wars [former US President Ronald] Reagan’s strategic defense initiative.

“We see this as yet another confirmation of the US focus on turning space into a scene of armed confrontation and deployment of weapons,” Zakharova said. “The United States’ approaches will by no means contribute to reducing tensions or improving the state of affairs in the strategic sphere, including the creation of a basis for a fruitful dialogue on strategic offensive arms.”

Russia may lift quantitative restrictions on its nuclear arsenal, if the US pushes ahead with the development of the missile defense system, Grigory Mashkov, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special ambassador said in an article in the International Affairs Journal.
“In the emerging realities, it is no longer possible to talk about strategic stability in its classical bilateral context, or else we may plunge into another illusion. There have appeared many actors on the international arena that influence the global missile lineup of forces. It is not ruled out that in the current conditions of confrontation with the West, with its policy of inflicting strategic damage on Russia, we may face the need for moving away from restrictions on nuclear and missile arsenals in favor of their quantitative and qualitative increase,” Mashkov said.
He explained that the further development of the US global missile defense system “puts an end to the prospects of strategic offensive arms reduction and preservation of strategic stability on the previous terms.”
“A missile arms race is already in full swing. So is the large-scale modernization of nuclear arsenals and WMD delivery vehicles. The militarization of space is gaining momentum, which, in the near future, is likely to become another scene of military confrontation. New technologies (artificial intelligence, quantum computers, etc.), which can multiply the enemy’s potential in strategic areas, including missile defense, are beginning to play a role here,” Mashkov added.
He sees one of the retaliatory steps in the adjustment of Russia’s stance on certain aspects of the NPT.
“In particular, it would be possible to analyze and revise our approaches to the existing realities, for example, the final document of the 2000 Review Conference. The loss of relevance of the seventh paragraph of its Practical Steps, which provides for the preservation and strengthening of the ABM Treaty, ruined by the US administration two years after its adoption, has undermined the comprehensive nature of the entire package,” Mashkov noted.
“We will have to take a fresh look at all our commitments in the area of strengthening transparency and confidence-building measures, and suspend discussions on nuclear risks and threats, which are becoming empty talk in the context of growing efforts by the West to undermine strategic and non-strategic nuclear deterrent forces. In general, other areas of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation should be better aligned with US global dominance ambitions. It is difficult to judge whether our policy of cooperation with the Americans only in areas which they are interested in is reasonable, if at all,” he concluded.
Trump’s idea to create new US missile defense system almost unrealistic — Defense One
US President Donald Trump’s plans for creating a new missile defense system identical to Israel’s Iron Dome are difficult to implement both technically and financially, analysts of the specialized American portal Defense One believe.
“The Iron Dome for America” will require the development of advanced weapons capable of intercepting hypersonic, ballistic and the latest cruise missiles and the deployment of a network of satellites in space equipped with lasers to destroy nuclear-tipped missiles, the article says. As the portal notes, putting such satellites into orbit implies negotiating “significant technical hurdles” and funding “astronomical costs.” At the same time, an enemy strike on satellites would mean the actual destruction of “the entire defense architecture,” the portal’s experts warn.
According to Defense One, “China and Russia have both developed next-generation, highly-maneuverable hypersonic missiles that are very difficult to intercept – nearly impossible with the ground-based midcourse defense interceptors the US has that were designed to defeat conventional intercontinental ballistic missiles that fly in predictable paths.” According to the portal, “the missile threats are real,” but Washington does not have the ability to neutralize them.
Hungarian PM says US now seeks peace in Ukraine, while EU wants war to continue
The new US administration and the EU leadership have different approaches to the conflict in Ukraine: Washington now favors a peaceful settlement, while Brussels wants to continue the war, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said during a Kossuth radio broadcast.
“The Europeans are saying that sanctions must be maintained and even tightened in order for the Ukrainians to win the war against Russia. Yesterday US Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] said in a big interview that it would be unfair to fool everyone by saying that the Ukrainians can win this war. Well, thank him for that interview, because it showed that the Americans want peace, not sanctions, and the Europeans want sanctions, not peace,” the prime minister said.
He emphasized that now “the European logic is completely different from the American logic: one is the logic of war and the other is the logic of peace.” Orban reiterated that the Hungarian government still favors a negotiated settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, and is counting on US President Donald Trump in this endeavor.
